OpenStore at The Gateway at Wynwood
Engineered Group was tasked with installing architectural finishes in the newly constructed Gateway at Wynwood for its new tenant, OpenStore.
The Gateway at Wynwood, located at the intersection of the iconic Wynwood and Midtown Miami neighborhoods, provides roughly 195,000 square feet of leasable Class A office space and nearly 25,900 square feet of prime street-level retail space.
OpenStore occupies 14,914 square feet and was the first tenant to move into the recently completed building.
Value-Engineered Construction Alternative

Engineered Group was tasked with installing architectural finishes in the newly constructed Gateway at Wynwood for its new tenant, OpenStore.

The Goal & Challenges We Faced
As is the case in many projects we tackle, our team was brought in to provide a value-engineered alternative for construction projects looking to stay within their target budget and timeline.
Gateway at Wynwood required a substitute for real wood veneers, which would not be available for 12 weeks, with an Architectural Finish (valued engineered product) within 45
days.
Our Involvement
The Gateway at Wynwood were looking for an affordable option to make their walls standout. To do this, we engineered 1/8” Sintra panels (Class A fire rated) to hide any imperfections in the existing drywall. These panels provided the perfect substrate to accept the Architectural Finish.

Using Reatec Architectural Finishes
After discussing with the client the vision for their project, we landed on using Reatec architectural finishes to help create the space that they wanted. We used Architectural Overlay Reatec to cover the Sintra panels at a fraction of the cost of real wood.
Reatec is an excellent option for clients looking to renovate their space or in new construction builds as it is lightweight, highly durable, affordable, and can be applied to both interior and exterior applications. There are over 1000s of patterns and finishes to choose from, including metal, wood, stone, and leather. For this project, the designer decided to go with a wood grain to upgrade their space.
